A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire is the second book in the Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. The audiobook is narrated by Stina Nielsen and it is 23 hours and 56 minutes long. The book continues the story of Poppy, the Maiden, and Casteel, the Prince of Atlantia, as they navigate their way through a world filled with political intrigue, betrayal, and danger.

The story picks up where the first book, From Blood and Ash, left off. Poppy has discovered that she is not just a Maiden, but also a descendent of the gods. She is the only one who can wield the power of the gods and she is destined to save the world from the darkness that threatens to consume it. Casteel, on the other hand, has revealed his true identity to Poppy. He is not just a Prince, but also the Dark One, the god of death and destruction. He has been tasked with protecting Poppy and helping her fulfill her destiny.

The book starts with Poppy and Casteel traveling to Atlantia, the kingdom ruled by Casteel’s family. Poppy is still struggling to come to terms with her new identity and the power that comes with it. She is also trying to understand her feelings for Casteel. She knows that she is attracted to him, but she is also wary of him. She knows that he has lied to her in the past and she is not sure if she can trust him.

When they arrive in Atlantia, Poppy is introduced to Casteel’s family. She is shocked to discover that they are not what she expected. They are not the evil, bloodthirsty monsters that she has been led to believe. They are just like any other royal family, with their own problems and secrets. Poppy also meets Casteel’s brother, Kieran, who is the heir to the throne. Kieran is not happy about Casteel’s relationship with Poppy and he makes it clear that he does not trust her.

As Poppy tries to navigate the complicated politics of Atlantia, she also has to deal with the fact that her life is in danger. There are people who want to kill her because of her power and there are also those who want to use her for their own purposes. Poppy and Casteel have to work together to protect her and to uncover the truth about the conspiracy that threatens to destroy their world.

One of the things that I loved about this book is the world-building. Armentrout has created a rich and complex world that is filled with magic, mythology, and history. She has created a unique mythology that is based on Greek and Roman gods, but with her own twist. The world is also filled with different kingdoms, each with their own culture and traditions. The politics of the world are also well-developed, with different factions vying for power and influence.

The characters in this book are also well-developed. Poppy is a strong and independent heroine who is not afraid to speak her mind. She is also vulnerable and has her own insecurities. Casteel is a complex character who is not just a typical alpha male. He has his own demons and he is struggling to come to terms with his own identity. The relationship between Poppy and Casteel is also well-developed. It is not just a typical romance, but a complicated relationship that is based on trust, loyalty, and sacrifice.

The narration by Stina Nielsen is also excellent. She does a great job of bringing the characters to life and capturing the emotions of the story. Her pacing is also perfect, keeping the story moving at a steady pace.

One of the things that I did not like about this book is the pacing. The book is quite long and there are times when the story drags. There are also some parts of the story that feel repetitive. However, these are minor issues and do not detract from the overall enjoyment of the book.

Overall, A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire is an excellent audiobook that is well worth the time and investment. It is a well-written and well-narrated story that is filled with action, romance, and intrigue. The world-building is excellent and the characters are well-developed. If you enjoyed the first book in the series, you will definitely enjoy this one.
