The Summer I Turned Pretty is a young adult novel written by Jenny Han. It is the first book in the Summer series, which follows the story of a teenage girl named Belly Conklin and her summer experiences with her family and friends at a beach house. The audiobook version of the novel is narrated by Jessica Almasy and runs for approximately 8 hours and 21 minutes.

The story is set in a small beach town in the East Coast of the United States. Belly, the protagonist, has been spending her summers at the beach house with her mother, brother, and her mother’s best friend, Susannah, and her two sons, Conrad and Jeremiah, since she was a child. Belly has always had a crush on Conrad, who is the older of the two brothers, but he has never shown any interest in her. Jeremiah, on the other hand, has always been Belly’s friend and confidant.

The novel begins with Belly’s arrival at the beach house for the summer. She is now fifteen years old and has started to develop a more mature body. She is excited to spend the summer with her friends and family, but she is also nervous about seeing Conrad again. When she arrives, she finds that Conrad has grown even more handsome and mysterious, and she is immediately drawn to him.

As the summer progresses, Belly spends more time with Conrad and Jeremiah. She also meets new friends, including a boy named Cam who is interested in her. Belly is torn between her feelings for Conrad and her attraction to Cam. She also has to deal with the fact that Susannah, who has always been like a second mother to her, is sick with cancer and may not survive the summer.

The audiobook version of The Summer I Turned Pretty is narrated by Jessica Almasy, who does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. Her voice is youthful and energetic, which is perfect for a young adult novel. She also does a great job of differentiating between the different characters, giving each one a unique voice and personality.

One of the strengths of the audiobook version of The Summer I Turned Pretty is the way it captures the atmosphere of the beach town. Almasy’s narration brings to life the sound of the waves, the smell of the salt air, and the feeling of the sand between your toes. It is easy to imagine yourself sitting on the beach with Belly and her friends, watching the sun set over the ocean.

Another strength of the audiobook is the way it captures the emotions of the characters. Han’s writing is very emotional, and Almasy’s narration does an excellent job of conveying the characters’ feelings. You can hear the excitement in Belly’s voice when she talks about Conrad, the sadness in her voice when she talks about Susannah’s illness, and the confusion in her voice when she talks about her feelings for Cam.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is a coming-of-age story that deals with themes of love, friendship, and family. It is a story that many teenagers will be able to relate to, as they navigate the complexities of growing up. The audiobook version of the novel is a great way to experience the story, as it brings the characters and the setting to life in a way that is both engaging and immersive.
