The Midnight Star is the third and final book in The Young Elites series by Marie Lu. The audiobook is narrated by Carla Corvo and Lannon Killea, who bring the story to life with their captivating performances.

The story picks up where the second book, The Rose Society, left off. Adelina Amouteru, the protagonist, has become the queen of Kenettra and is ruling with an iron fist. She has become more powerful than ever before, but her powers are also consuming her. She is haunted by the ghosts of her past and is struggling to keep her darkness at bay.

Adelina’s sister, Violetta, is still by her side, but their relationship is strained. Violetta is trying to help Adelina control her powers, but Adelina is resistant to her sister’s help. She is convinced that she can handle everything on her own.

Meanwhile, the Daggers, the group of Young Elites that Adelina used to be a part of, are still fighting against the Inquisition Axis, the organization that hunts down and kills Young Elites. They are also trying to find a way to stop Adelina from becoming a tyrant.

As the story progresses, Adelina’s powers continue to grow, and she becomes more ruthless. She is willing to do whatever it takes to maintain her power, even if it means sacrificing innocent lives. Her actions cause a rift between her and the Daggers, and they begin to see her as a threat.

The audiobook is filled with action, suspense, and drama. The narrators do an excellent job of bringing the characters to life and conveying the emotions of the story. They capture the darkness and intensity of Adelina’s character, as well as the desperation and fear of the other characters.

One of the strengths of the audiobook is the way it explores the themes of power and corruption. Adelina’s journey is a cautionary tale about the dangers of unchecked power. She starts out as a sympathetic character who has been through a lot of trauma, but as she gains more power, she becomes more ruthless and cruel. The audiobook does an excellent job of showing how power can corrupt even the most well-intentioned people.

Another strength of the audiobook is the way it explores the relationships between the characters. Adelina’s relationship with her sister, Violetta, is particularly compelling. They have a complicated history, and their relationship is strained by Adelina’s powers. The audiobook does an excellent job of showing how their relationship evolves over the course of the story.

The audiobook also does an excellent job of building tension and suspense. The story is filled with twists and turns, and the narrators do an excellent job of keeping the listener engaged. The final battle is particularly intense, and the audiobook does an excellent job of conveying the stakes of the conflict.

Overall, The Midnight Star is an excellent conclusion to The Young Elites series. The audiobook is a must-listen for fans of the series, as well as anyone who enjoys dark fantasy and complex characters. The narrators do an excellent job of bringing the story to life, and the themes of power and corruption are explored in a compelling way. Highly recommended.
