Star Wars: Aftermath is a novel written by Chuck Wendig and is the first book in the Star Wars: Aftermath trilogy. The audiobook version of the novel is narrated by Marc Thompson and was released on September 4, 2015, the same day as the novel’s print and e-book versions. The audiobook has a runtime of 11 hours and 16 minutes and is published by Random House Audio.

The story of Star Wars: Aftermath takes place after the events of Return of the Jedi and follows the story of a group of characters who are trying to survive in the aftermath of the destruction of the second Death Star and the fall of the Empire. The novel is set in the year 5 ABY (After the Battle of Yavin) and is divided into three parts, each focusing on a different aspect of the story.

Part One: The Galaxy in Chaos

The first part of the novel introduces the reader to the main characters of the story. The first character we meet is Norra Wexley, a former Rebel pilot who has returned to her home planet of Akiva to reunite with her son, Temmin. Norra is haunted by the memories of the war and is struggling to adjust to civilian life. She is also dealing with the guilt of leaving her son behind to fight in the war.

The second character we meet is Temmin Wexley, a young boy who has been forced to grow up quickly in the aftermath of the war. Temmin is a skilled mechanic and has been using his talents to make a living on Akiva. He is also dealing with the loss of his father, who was killed in the war.

The third character we meet is Sinjir Rath Velus, a former Imperial loyalty officer who has defected to the Rebel Alliance. Sinjir is struggling to find his place in the new world order and is haunted by the atrocities he committed while serving the Empire.

The fourth character we meet is Jas Emari, a bounty hunter who has been hired to track down a former Imperial officer named Admiral Rae Sloane. Jas is a skilled fighter and is determined to complete her mission, even if it means working with the Rebels.

The first part of the novel sets the stage for the rest of the story by showing the chaos and uncertainty that exists in the galaxy after the fall of the Empire. The Rebels are trying to establish a new government, while the remnants of the Empire are fighting to maintain their power. The characters are all struggling to find their place in this new world and are forced to confront their pasts in order to move forward.

Part Two: The Battle for Akiva

The second part of the novel focuses on the battle for Akiva, which is being fought between the Rebels and the remnants of the Empire. The Rebels have learned that a group of Imperial leaders, including Admiral Rae Sloane, are meeting on Akiva to discuss their next move. The Rebels see this as an opportunity to strike a major blow against the Empire and launch an attack on the planet.

The battle for Akiva is intense and action-packed, with the Rebels facing off against a formidable Imperial force. The characters are all involved in the battle in different ways, with Norra and Temmin fighting on the ground, Sinjir using his skills as a strategist to help plan the attack, and Jas working to track down Admiral Sloane.

The battle for Akiva is a turning point in the story, as it marks the first major victory for the Rebels in their fight against the Empire. It also sets the stage for the final part of the novel, which focuses on the aftermath of the battle and the characters’ attempts to move on from their pasts.

Part Three: The Aftermath

The final part of the novel focuses on the aftermath of the battle for Akiva and the characters’ attempts to move on from their pasts. Norra, Temmin, Sinjir, and Jas all find themselves at a crossroads, as they must decide whether to continue fighting for the Rebel cause or to try to find a new path in life.

The aftermath of the battle is also marked by the emergence of a new threat to the galaxy. The characters learn that a group called the Acolytes of the Beyond has been collecting artifacts from the Jedi and the Sith and is planning to use them to bring about a new era of darkness. The characters must work together to stop the Acolytes and prevent them from unleashing their destructive plan.

The final part of the novel is a satisfying conclusion to the story, as the characters all find closure and resolution to their individual arcs. Norra and Temmin are able to reconcile their relationship, Sinjir is able to confront his past and find a new purpose in life, and Jas is able to complete her mission and move on from her past as a bounty hunter.

Overall, Star Wars: Aftermath is a thrilling and engaging novel that explores the aftermath of the fall of the Empire and the struggles of the characters who are trying to survive in this new world. The audiobook version of the novel is expertly narrated by Marc Thompson, who brings the characters to life with his dynamic and engaging performance. Whether you are a fan of the Star Wars franchise or just enjoy a good sci-fi adventure, Star Wars: Aftermath is a must-read (or must-listen) for any fan of the genre.
