Small Favor is the tenth book in The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. It was published in 2008 and is available in audiobook format. The audiobook is narrated by James Marsters, who has narrated all of the books in the series so far.

The story follows Harry Dresden, a wizard and private investigator in Chicago. In this book, Harry is called upon by Queen Mab of the Winter Court to do a small favor for her. However, as Harry soon discovers, there is nothing small about this favor. He is tasked with finding and rescuing a kidnapped member of the Winter Court, who has been taken by the Denarians, a group of fallen angels who possess mortals and use them for their own purposes.

As Harry delves deeper into the case, he discovers that there is more at stake than just the life of one Winter Court member. The Denarians are planning something big, and Harry must stop them before it’s too late. Along the way, he is aided by his friends and allies, including his apprentice Molly, his half-brother Thomas, and his old flame Karrin Murphy.

The audiobook is just over 14 hours long and is divided into 48 chapters. James Marsters does an excellent job of narrating the story, bringing the characters to life with his distinctive voice and inflection. He captures the humor, action, and drama of the story perfectly, making it a joy to listen to.

One of the things that makes Small Favor such a great audiobook is the pacing. The story moves along at a brisk pace, with plenty of action and suspense to keep the listener engaged. There are also plenty of twists and turns in the plot, which keeps things interesting and unpredictable.

Another strength of the audiobook is the characters. Jim Butcher has created a rich and diverse cast of characters, each with their own unique personalities and motivations. James Marsters does an excellent job of bringing these characters to life, giving each one a distinct voice and personality.

Harry Dresden is, of course, the star of the show. He is a complex and compelling character, with a dry wit and a strong sense of justice. He is also flawed, with a tendency to rush headlong into danger without thinking things through. This makes him a relatable and sympathetic character, and it’s easy to root for him as he battles the forces of evil.

The supporting cast is also excellent. Molly, Harry’s apprentice, is a fun and spunky character who provides a nice contrast to Harry’s more serious demeanor. Thomas, Harry’s half-brother, is a charming and charismatic vampire who adds a touch of romance to the story. Karrin Murphy, Harry’s old flame and a police officer, is a tough and capable ally who is always ready to lend a hand.

The villains in Small Favor are also well-drawn. The Denarians are a formidable foe, with each member possessing unique powers and abilities. They are also morally ambiguous, with some members being more sympathetic than others. This makes them a more interesting and nuanced villain than a simple black-and-white evil force.

One of the things that sets Small Favor apart from other books in The Dresden Files series is the world-building. Jim Butcher has created a rich and detailed world, with its own mythology and rules. The audiobook does an excellent job of bringing this world to life, with James Marsters delivering the exposition and world-building in a way that is engaging and easy to follow.

The audiobook also benefits from Jim Butcher’s writing style. He has a knack for writing snappy dialogue and witty one-liners, which makes the audiobook a joy to listen to. There are also plenty of action scenes, which are described in vivid detail and are easy to visualize.

Overall, Small Favor is an excellent audiobook that is well worth listening to. It has a compelling story, engaging characters, and excellent narration. Whether you’re a fan of The Dresden Files series or just looking for a fun and exciting audiobook to listen to, Small Favor is definitely worth checking out.
