The book picks up where the previous one left off, with Piper and her friends trying to find a way to stop the demon invasion. Piper is still struggling with her new powers and the fact that she is half-demon. She is also dealing with the aftermath of her battle with Ash, the demon prince who tried to kill her.
As the story progresses, Piper and her friends discover that the demon invasion is just the beginning of a much larger threat. They learn that there is a group of powerful mages who are trying to open a portal to another world, one that is filled with even more dangerous demons.
Piper and her friends must race against time to stop the mages from opening the portal. Along the way, they face numerous challenges and obstacles, including powerful demons, treacherous mages, and their own inner demons.
One of the things that I love about this series is the character development. Piper is a complex and flawed character who is struggling to come to terms with her new reality. She is not a perfect hero, but she is determined to do what is right, even if it means putting herself in danger.
The supporting characters are also well-developed and add depth to the story. Ash, the demon prince, is a fascinating character who is both dangerous and alluring. Lyre, Piper’s best friend and ally, is a charming and witty character who provides some much-needed comic relief.
The world-building in this series is also excellent. The author has created a rich and detailed world filled with magic, demons, and danger. The descriptions of the different types of demons and their abilities are particularly well-done.
The action in this book is intense and fast-paced. There are numerous battles and fights, each one more dangerous than the last. The author does an excellent job of keeping the tension high and the stakes even higher.
Overall, Reap the Shadows is an excellent addition to the Steel & Stone series. The audiobook is well-narrated and the story is engaging and exciting. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys urban fantasy or paranormal romance.
