The New Moon audiobook is the second installment in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. It was published in 2006 and has since become a popular young adult novel. The audiobook is narrated by Ilyana Kadushin and has a runtime of 12 hours and 20 minutes.

The story of New Moon picks up where Twilight left off. Bella Swan, the protagonist, is now dating Edward Cullen, a vampire. However, their relationship is put to the test when Edward and his family leave Forks, Washington, to protect Bella from their enemies. Bella is devastated by Edward’s departure and falls into a deep depression. She finds solace in her friendship with Jacob Black, a werewolf, but their relationship becomes complicated when Bella discovers that Jacob and his pack are sworn enemies of Edward and his family.

The audiobook is divided into three parts. The first part, titled “Party,” begins with Bella’s 18th birthday party, which ends in disaster when she gets a paper cut and Edward’s brother, Jasper, almost attacks her. Edward realizes that his presence is putting Bella in danger and decides to leave Forks. Bella is heartbroken and falls into a deep depression. She becomes reckless and starts doing dangerous things to hear Edward’s voice in her head.

The second part, titled “Jacob,” begins with Bella’s friendship with Jacob Black. Jacob is a werewolf and is part of a pack that protects Forks from vampires. Bella finds comfort in Jacob’s company and starts spending more time with him. However, their relationship becomes complicated when Jacob starts developing feelings for Bella. Bella is torn between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob.

The third part, titled “The End,” begins with Bella’s decision to save Edward from the Volturi, a powerful vampire coven. Bella travels to Italy to stop Edward from exposing himself as a vampire to humans, which would result in his death. Bella is successful in her mission, but she is almost killed by the Volturi. Edward saves her and they reconcile. The audiobook ends with Bella and Edward returning to Forks and Jacob accepting that Bella loves Edward.

The New Moon audiobook is narrated by Ilyana Kadushin, who does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. Her voice is soothing and easy to listen to, and she captures the emotions of the characters perfectly. Kadushin’s narration adds depth to the story and makes it more engaging.

One of the strengths of the New Moon audiobook is the character development. Meyer does an excellent job of showing the growth of Bella’s character throughout the story. Bella starts off as a shy and introverted teenager, but she becomes more confident and independent as the story progresses. Her relationship with Edward forces her to confront her fears and take risks. Bella’s friendship with Jacob also helps her to grow as a person and learn to trust others.

Another strength of the audiobook is the world-building. Meyer creates a rich and complex world of vampires and werewolves that is both fascinating and believable. The mythology behind the vampires and werewolves is well-developed and adds depth to the story. The audiobook also explores the themes of love, loss, and identity, which are universal and relatable.

The audiobook also has some weaknesses. One of the weaknesses is the pacing. The story moves slowly in some parts, which can be frustrating for listeners who want more action. The second part of the audiobook, which focuses on Bella’s friendship with Jacob, can be slow and repetitive at times. The third part of the audiobook, which focuses on Bella’s mission to save Edward, is more action-packed and exciting.

Another weakness of the audiobook is the lack of diversity. The story is set in a small town in Washington state, and the characters are mostly white. There is little representation of people of color or LGBTQ+ characters. This lack of diversity can be disappointing for listeners who want to see themselves represented in the story.

Overall, the New Moon audiobook is an engaging and well-written story that will appeal to fans of the Twilight series. The character development and world-building are strong, and the narration by Ilyana Kadushin adds depth to the story. However, the pacing can be slow at times, and the lack of diversity is a weakness. Despite these flaws, the New Moon audiobook is a must-listen for fans of the Twilight series and young adult fiction.
