Little Fires Everywhere is a novel by Celeste Ng that was published in 2017. The book was a New York Times bestseller and was later adapted into a television series by Hulu. The audiobook version of Little Fires Everywhere is narrated by Jennifer Lim and is approximately 11 hours and 27 minutes long.

The story is set in the planned community of Shaker Heights, Ohio, in the late 1990s. The Richardson family, consisting of parents Elena and Bill and their four children, live in a large, beautiful house in the heart of the community. Elena is a journalist for the local newspaper and is very involved in the community, while Bill is a lawyer who spends most of his time at work. The children, Lexie, Trip, Moody, and Izzy, are all in high school and are each dealing with their own issues.

The story begins with the Richardson house on fire, and the rest of the book is a flashback leading up to that moment. The fire is started by Izzy, the youngest and most rebellious of the Richardson children, who has been struggling with her place in the family and in the community. The book explores the relationships between the members of the Richardson family and the people they encounter in their daily lives.

One of the main plotlines of the book involves the arrival of Mia Warren and her daughter Pearl in Shaker Heights. Mia is an artist who has been moving around the country with her daughter for years, never staying in one place for too long. They rent a small apartment from the Richardsons, and Mia begins working as a housekeeper for Elena. Pearl becomes friends with the Richardson children, and Mia becomes involved in the community in her own way.

Another plotline involves the custody battle over a Chinese-American baby named May Ling/Mirabelle. The baby was abandoned by her birth mother and was adopted by a white couple, the McCulloughs. However, the baby’s birth mother, Bebe Chow, comes forward and wants her daughter back. The case becomes a source of tension in the community, with Elena and Mia taking opposite sides.

The audiobook version of Little Fires Everywhere is narrated by Jennifer Lim, who does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. Her voice is clear and easy to listen to, and she does a great job of differentiating between the different characters. She captures the emotions of the characters well, and her narration adds depth to the story.

One of the strengths of the audiobook version of Little Fires Everywhere is the way it captures the nuances of the characters’ relationships. The book is told from multiple perspectives, and the audiobook version does a great job of distinguishing between the different voices. The relationships between the characters are complex, and the audiobook version does a great job of capturing the subtleties of those relationships.

Another strength of the audiobook version is the way it captures the setting of Shaker Heights. The book is set in a very specific time and place, and the audiobook version does a great job of bringing that setting to life. The descriptions of the community and the people who live there are vivid and detailed, and the audiobook version does a great job of capturing the atmosphere of the community.

One of the weaknesses of the audiobook version of Little Fires Everywhere is the pacing. The book is slow-paced, and the audiobook version can feel a bit sluggish at times. However, this is more of a reflection of the book itself than the audiobook version.

Another weakness of the audiobook version is the way it handles the different plotlines. The book has several different plotlines that are all interconnected, and the audiobook version can feel a bit disjointed at times. However, this is more of a reflection of the book itself than the audiobook version.

Overall, the audiobook version of Little Fires Everywhere is a great way to experience the book. Jennifer Lim’s narration is excellent, and she does a great job of bringing the characters to life. The audiobook version captures the nuances of the characters’ relationships and the setting of Shaker Heights. While the pacing can be slow at times and the different plotlines can feel disjointed, these are more of a reflection of the book itself than the audiobook version.
