A Rogue of One’s Own is the second book in the A League of Extraordinary Women series by Evie Dunmore. This historical romance novel is set in the late 1800s in England and follows the story of Lady Lucie Tedbury and her fight for women’s suffrage.

The audiobook is narrated by Elizabeth Jasicki, who does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. Her voice is clear and easy to listen to, and she captures the emotions of the characters perfectly.

The story begins with Lady Lucie Tedbury, a wealthy and independent woman who is determined to fight for women’s rights. She is a member of the suffragette movement and is determined to make a difference. However, her plans are derailed when she discovers that her family’s estate is in financial trouble. In order to save the estate, she must marry a wealthy man, but she is not willing to give up her independence.

Enter Lord Tristan Ballentine, a notorious rogue and the owner of a successful newspaper. He is also a member of the aristocracy and has a reputation for being a ladies’ man. When Lucie approaches him with a proposal to help her save her estate, he agrees to help her, but only if she agrees to help him with his own agenda.

Tristan is also a member of the suffragette movement, but he has a different approach to achieving their goals. He believes that the best way to make a difference is to use his newspaper to spread the message of women’s rights. Lucie is initially skeptical of his methods, but she soon realizes that they may be more effective than her own.

As they work together, Lucie and Tristan begin to develop feelings for each other. However, they both have their own reasons for not wanting to get involved in a romantic relationship. Lucie is determined to maintain her independence, while Tristan is haunted by a tragic event from his past.

Despite their reservations, they cannot deny their attraction to each other. As they navigate their feelings, they also face opposition from those who do not believe in women’s suffrage. Lucie and Tristan must work together to overcome these obstacles and achieve their goals.

One of the strengths of this audiobook is the character development. Lucie and Tristan are both complex characters with their own motivations and flaws. They are not perfect, but they are relatable and likable. The supporting characters are also well-developed, and they add depth to the story.

Another strength of this audiobook is the historical setting. Dunmore does an excellent job of capturing the atmosphere of late 1800s England. She incorporates real historical events and figures into the story, which adds authenticity to the narrative.

The romance between Lucie and Tristan is also well-done. It is not a typical romance, as both characters have their own issues to work through. However, their chemistry is undeniable, and their banter is entertaining.

The audiobook is well-paced, and the plot is engaging. There are several twists and turns that keep the listener engaged, and the ending is satisfying.

Overall, A Rogue of One’s Own is an excellent audiobook. It has well-developed characters, a compelling plot, and a satisfying romance. Elizabeth Jasicki’s narration is also excellent, and she brings the story to life. This audiobook is highly recommended for fans of historical romance and women’s fiction.
