White Night is the ninth book in The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. It was published in 2007 and is available in audiobook format. The audiobook is narrated by James Marsters, who has narrated all of the books in the series so far.

The story follows Harry Dresden, a wizard and private investigator in Chicago. In this book, Harry is investigating a series of murders that seem to be connected to the supernatural world. The victims are all practitioners of magic, and their deaths are brutal and mysterious. Harry is called in to investigate by his friend Karrin Murphy, who is a police officer and knows about the supernatural world.

As Harry investigates the murders, he discovers that there is a group of rogue wizards who are using their powers for evil. They are called the Black Council, and they are trying to take over the supernatural world. Harry also discovers that there is a traitor in the White Council, the governing body of wizards, who is helping the Black Council.

The audiobook is well-narrated by James Marsters, who does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. His voice is perfect for Harry Dresden, and he does a great job of conveying the humor and sarcasm that is a trademark of the series. Marsters also does a good job of differentiating between the different characters, so it is easy to follow the story.

The plot of White Night is complex and engaging. There are many twists and turns, and the story keeps the listener guessing until the end. The pacing is good, and the action scenes are well-written and exciting. Butcher does a great job of balancing the action with the character development, so the story never feels too heavy on one side or the other.

One of the strengths of the audiobook is the character development. Harry Dresden is a complex and interesting character, and Butcher does a great job of exploring his motivations and personality. In this book, we see Harry struggling with his own power and the responsibility that comes with it. We also see him dealing with the consequences of his actions in previous books, which adds depth to his character.

The supporting characters are also well-developed. Karrin Murphy is a strong and capable character who is a great foil for Harry. We also see more of Thomas, Harry’s half-brother, who is a complex and interesting character in his own right. The villains are also well-written, and we get a good sense of their motivations and personalities.

The world-building in White Night is also excellent. Butcher has created a rich and detailed world that is full of supernatural creatures and magic. The rules of magic are well-defined, and Butcher does a great job of exploring the different types of magic and how they interact with each other. The world feels real and lived-in, and it is easy to get lost in the story.

Overall, White Night is an excellent audiobook that is well worth listening to. The story is engaging and well-written, the characters are complex and interesting, and the world-building is excellent. James Marsters does a great job of narrating the book, and his voice is perfect for Harry Dresden. If you are a fan of urban fantasy or just looking for a good audiobook, White Night is definitely worth checking out.
