The story begins with Victor Vale, a brilliant and ambitious college student, who is determined to unlock the secrets of the human body and mind. He becomes obsessed with the idea of creating superhuman abilities, and he convinces his best friend, Eli Cardale, to help him with his experiments.
Together, they discover a way to give themselves supernatural abilities, but their experiment goes horribly wrong, and they end up becoming mortal enemies. Victor is left for dead, while Eli becomes a hero, using his newfound powers to fight crime and bring justice to the world.
Ten years later, Victor is released from prison, and he sets out to get revenge on Eli. He teams up with a young girl named Sydney, who has her own supernatural abilities, and together they set out to take down Eli and his team of superheroes.
The story is told in a non-linear fashion, jumping back and forth between the present day and the past, as we learn more about Victor and Eli’s history and how they became enemies. The audiobook does an excellent job of keeping the listener engaged, as the story unfolds in unexpected ways.
One of the strengths of the audiobook is the way it brings the characters to life. Noah Michael Levine does an excellent job of giving each character a distinct voice and personality. Victor is portrayed as a cold and calculating mastermind, while Eli is the charismatic hero, who is hiding a dark secret.
Sydney is a fascinating character, who is both vulnerable and powerful. She has the ability to bring people back from the dead, but she struggles with the consequences of her powers. Noah Michael Levine does an excellent job of capturing her innocence and strength, making her a standout character in the audiobook.
The story is also filled with interesting supporting characters, including Serena, Eli’s girlfriend, who is also a superhero, and Mitch, Victor’s loyal friend, who helps him in his quest for revenge. Each character has their own motivations and secrets, which adds depth and complexity to the story.
The audiobook also does an excellent job of capturing the dark and twisted nature of the story. The characters are not traditional heroes or villains, but rather complex individuals who are driven by their own desires and obsessions. The story is filled with violence and betrayal, but it never feels gratuitous or over-the-top.
One of the themes of the story is the idea of power and what people will do to gain it. Victor and Eli are both driven by their desire for power, but they have very different ideas about how to use it. Eli believes that he is doing good by using his powers to fight crime, while Victor sees power as a means to an end, a way to get revenge on those who have wronged him.
The audiobook also explores the idea of morality and whether or not it is possible to be truly good or evil. The characters are all flawed and complex, and their actions are often driven by their own selfish desires. The story raises questions about whether or not it is possible to do good without doing harm, and whether or not the ends justify the means.
Overall, Vicious is an excellent audiobook that is well worth listening to. The story is dark and twisted, but it is also engaging and thought-provoking. The characters are complex and interesting, and the narration is top-notch. If you are a fan of superhero stories or dark fantasy, then this audiobook is definitely worth checking out.
