The story begins with Evangeline Stone waking up in a morgue, confused and disoriented. She soon realizes that she has been dead for three days and that she has no memory of what happened to her. She also discovers that she has been brought back to life by a powerful necromancer named Wyatt Truman, who has a job for her to do.
Wyatt tells Evangeline that she was murdered and that she has only three days to solve her own murder before she dies again. He also informs her that she was a member of the supernatural police force, but she quit after her partner was killed. Wyatt offers to help her solve her murder, but Evangeline is hesitant to trust him.
As Evangeline begins to investigate her own murder, she discovers that she was involved in a dangerous case involving a powerful vampire named Lucas Vampir. She also learns that her former partner, David, is still alive and working for Lucas. Evangeline is determined to find out what happened to David and to bring Lucas to justice.
Evangeline’s investigation leads her to a seedy underworld of supernatural creatures, including werewolves, vampires, and witches. She also discovers that she has some supernatural abilities of her own, including the ability to heal quickly and to see ghosts.
