The Night Huntress series follows the story of Cat Crawfield, a half-vampire, half-human hybrid, and her husband, Bones, a centuries-old vampire. One of the strengths of the Night Huntress series is the chemistry between Cat and Bones. In One Grave at a Time, their relationship is as strong as ever. They are a formidable team, and their love for each other is evident in every scene they share. Tavia Gilbert does an excellent job of bringing their characters to life, capturing their personalities and emotions perfectly.
The supporting characters in the book are also well-developed and add depth to the story. One of the standout characters is a ghost named Tyler, who becomes a key ally to Cat and Bones. Tyler is a complex character, and his backstory is both tragic and compelling. Tavia Gilbert does an excellent job of voicing Tyler, capturing his vulnerability and strength.

While there are certainly familiar elements in One Grave at a Time, such as the supernatural threat and the action-packed climax, the book also introduces new elements that keep the story fresh. The addition of ghosts as the main threat is a welcome change from the usual vampires and ghouls.
