Red Knife is a gripping audiobook that tells the story of a small town in North Dakota that is rocked by a series of murders. The book is written by William Kent Krueger and is the eighth in his Cork O’Connor series. The audiobook is narrated by David Chandler, who does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life.

The story begins with the murder of a wealthy businessman named Eddie Jacoby. The murder takes place in the small town of Aurora, which is where Cork O’Connor lives. Cork is a former sheriff who now runs a small restaurant in town. He is also a part-time private investigator, and he is asked by Jacoby’s widow to look into her husband’s murder.

As Cork begins to investigate the murder, he discovers that there is more to the case than meets the eye. He soon learns that Jacoby was involved in some shady business dealings, and that there are several people who had a motive to kill him. Cork also discovers that there is a connection between Jacoby’s murder and the murder of a young Native American woman named Amber Crow.

Amber’s murder took place several years ago, and it was never solved. However, as Cork investigates Jacoby’s murder, he begins to uncover clues that suggest that the two murders are connected. Cork also learns that there is a group of people in town who are determined to keep the truth about Amber’s murder from coming to light.

As Cork delves deeper into the case, he finds himself in danger. He is attacked several times, and he begins to suspect that someone is trying to kill him. However, he refuses to give up, and he continues to investigate the case. Eventually, he uncovers the truth about both murders, and he brings the killer to justice.

One of the things that makes Red Knife such a compelling audiobook is the way that Krueger brings the characters to life. Cork O’Connor is a complex and interesting character, and Chandler does an excellent job of capturing his personality. Cork is a man who is haunted by his past, and he is struggling to come to terms with the mistakes that he has made. He is also a man who is deeply committed to justice, and he is willing to risk his own life to uncover the truth.

The other characters in the book are also well-drawn. Krueger does an excellent job of creating a sense of community in Aurora, and he populates the town with a variety of interesting and memorable characters. There is Henry Meloux, an elderly Native American man who serves as Cork’s mentor and spiritual guide. There is also Jo O’Connor, Cork’s ex-wife, who is still a part of his life and who helps him with his investigations. And there is Rainy Bisonette, a young Native American woman who becomes Cork’s love interest.

Another thing that makes Red Knife such a compelling audiobook is the way that Krueger explores the themes of justice and redemption. Cork is a man who is haunted by his past, and he is struggling to come to terms with the mistakes that he has made. However, he is also a man who is deeply committed to justice, and he is willing to risk his own life to uncover the truth. Through Cork’s journey, Krueger explores the idea that it is never too late to seek redemption, and that even the most flawed individuals can find a way to make amends for their mistakes.

Overall, Red Knife is a gripping and well-written audiobook that will keep listeners on the edge of their seats. Krueger’s writing is excellent, and Chandler’s narration is top-notch. The book is a must-read for fans of crime fiction, and it is sure to appeal to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.
