Duke of Sin is the tenth book in the Maiden Lane series by Elizabeth Hoyt. The audiobook is narrated by Ashford McNab and is approximately 11 hours and 31 minutes long. The story is set in Georgian London and follows the Duke of Montgomery, a notorious rake and villain, and his unlikely love interest, Bridget Crumb, a housekeeper with a secret past.

The story begins with the Duke of Montgomery, also known as Valentine Napier, attending a ball where he meets Bridget Crumb. Bridget is a housekeeper for a wealthy family and is attending the ball as a favor to her employer. The Duke is immediately drawn to Bridget’s beauty and wit, and he sets out to seduce her.

Bridget, however, is not interested in the Duke’s advances. She has a secret past that she is trying to keep hidden, and she knows that getting involved with the Duke could only lead to trouble. Despite her reservations, the Duke persists in his pursuit of Bridget, and eventually, she gives in to his charms.

As their relationship develops, Bridget begins to see a different side of the Duke. She discovers that he is not the heartless villain that he is made out to be, but rather a man who has been hurt in the past and is trying to protect himself from further pain. The Duke, in turn, is fascinated by Bridget’s strength and resilience, and he begins to see her as more than just a conquest.

Their relationship is not without its challenges, however. The Duke’s enemies are constantly plotting against him, and Bridget’s past threatens to catch up with her. As they navigate these obstacles, they must also confront their own fears and insecurities, and learn to trust each other.

One of the strengths of Duke of Sin is its complex and well-developed characters. The Duke of Montgomery is a fascinating anti-hero, with a dark past and a reputation as a ruthless villain. Despite his flaws, however, he is also charming, witty, and surprisingly vulnerable. Bridget, too, is a compelling character, with a secret past that is slowly revealed over the course of the story. She is strong, independent, and fiercely loyal to those she cares about.

The audiobook narration by Ashford McNab is also excellent. McNab does a great job of bringing the characters to life, with distinct voices and accents for each one. Her pacing is also spot-on, keeping the story moving at a steady pace without ever feeling rushed.

Another strength of Duke of Sin is its setting. The story takes place in Georgian London, and Hoyt does an excellent job of bringing the city to life. From the glittering ballrooms of the aristocracy to the seedy back alleys of the slums, the city is vividly portrayed, with all its contrasts and contradictions.

The plot of Duke of Sin is also well-crafted, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader engaged. The romance between the Duke and Bridget is central to the story, but there are also plenty of subplots involving the Duke’s enemies, Bridget’s past, and the wider political and social context of the time.

Overall, Duke of Sin is a highly enjoyable audiobook that will appeal to fans of historical romance and Georgian London. The characters are complex and well-developed, the setting is vividly portrayed, and the plot is engaging and well-crafted. Ashford McNab’s narration is also excellent, bringing the story to life with her skillful voice acting. Highly recommended.
