The Shadow and Bone Trilogy is set in the Grishaverse, a world where some people are born with the ability to manipulate elements and matter. The story follows Alina Starkov, a young girl who discovers that she is a Grisha, a powerful and rare type of magic user. In the first book, Shadow and Bone, Alina is taken to the royal court to train as a Grisha and help the kingdom fight against the Shadow Fold, a dark and dangerous place where monsters roam. In the second book, Siege and Storm, Alina and her friends are on the run from the Darkling, the leader of the Grisha, who wants to use Alina’s power for his own gain.
Ruin and Rising picks up where Siege and Storm left off.
