Her First Kiss (Firsts #1) is a young adult novel written by author and journalist, Tess Sharpe. The audiobook version of the novel is narrated by Caitlin Kelly and was published by Blackstone Audio in 2016. The novel is a coming-of-age story that explores themes of love, sex, and identity.

The story follows the life of Mercedes Ayres, a high school senior who has a secret life as a “helper” to her male classmates. Mercedes is not a prostitute, but she helps her male classmates lose their virginity by offering them a safe and comfortable environment to explore their sexuality. Mercedes believes that she is doing a good deed by helping her male classmates, but she is also using this as a way to escape her own problems.

Mercedes’ mother is an alcoholic who is rarely present in her life, and her father left the family when she was young. Mercedes’ only solace is her best friend Angela, who is also struggling with her own problems. Mercedes’ life takes a turn when she meets Zach, a new student at her school. Zach is different from the other boys at school, and Mercedes finds herself drawn to him.

As Mercedes and Zach get to know each other, Mercedes begins to question her own actions and the reasons behind them. She starts to realize that she has been using sex as a way to escape her problems and that she needs to confront them head-on. Mercedes also begins to question her own sexuality and starts to explore her feelings for Angela.

The audiobook version of Her First Kiss is narrated by Caitlin Kelly, who does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. Kelly’s narration is clear and easy to understand, and she does a great job of capturing the emotions of the characters. Her voice is soothing and calming, which makes it easy to get lost in the story.

One of the things that I enjoyed about the audiobook version of Her First Kiss is the way that the story is told. The novel is written in the first person, and the audiobook version captures this perfectly. The listener is able to get inside Mercedes’ head and experience her thoughts and emotions firsthand. This makes the story more engaging and allows the listener to connect with the characters on a deeper level.

Another thing that I enjoyed about the audiobook version of Her First Kiss is the way that the narrator handles the more sensitive topics in the novel. The novel deals with themes of sex, sexuality, and identity, and the narrator handles these topics with sensitivity and care. The listener is able to understand the characters’ struggles and empathize with them.

Overall, I would highly recommend the audiobook version of Her First Kiss to anyone who enjoys young adult novels. The story is engaging, the characters are well-developed, and the narration is excellent. The novel deals with important themes that are relevant to young adults, and it does so in a way that is both sensitive and thought-provoking.
